We Support Local Palestinian Farmers By Helping Them Meet International Quality Standards and By Using Their Produce, Both Main And Surplus.
Agriculture is an important cultural tradition in Palestine because it provides communities with food and jobs; it is a source of pride and a means of self-sufficiency. The Agricultural sector makes up 6% of Palestinian GNP. Farmers in the West Bank grow olives, citrus, stone fruits, grapes, vegetables, herbs, and wheat. In Gaza, farmers grow flowers and vegetables. Farmers in Palestine are very vulnerable, and receive no subsidies. 50% of Palestinian farms are less than 2.5 acres. At SGG, we support our local Palestinian farmers through mutually fruitful partnerships. We have created a market for all farmer produce, both main and surplus, and have helped local Palestinian farmer produce reach local and international markets. Additionally, through PalGardens and its project Zadona Herbs, we provide farmers with the support they need to grow agricultural products that meet high European quality standards. At our factories, our farms are used as a showcase for local small, medium and large Palestinian farmers who receive advice and consultancy from our qualified team of agronomists, technicians and engineers to produce high-end dates, fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables. Our products are exported to countries in European, American, Russian and Arab markets.
